The Meaning of Personal Leadership
The greater the chaos, the greater the opportunity to lead positive change. No matter how far you’ve gone, no matter what side of a cliff you’re hanging on to, it’s never too late for you to take ownership over your life and affect positive change.
In a world of chaos, and amidst one of the greatest upheavals the world has witnessed, never has there been a greater need to clearly define and articulate what we value most and align our choices with those values. Never has there been a greater need to understand the changes in our environment and the impact of our choices. Never has there been a greater need to take personal responsibility for our actions and make the right choices.
Each of us is a leader because each of us has the power to affect positive or negative change for ourselves and for others. Leadership is not an end in itself. It is always a work in progress and it is developed over time with every choice, every intent, and every action we take. Therefore, success must be defined not only by how well we do in the good times. Success must be defined by how well we do in the bad times. What choices do we make? What do we do when faced with adversity? What do we do when faced with chaos and uncertainty?
Through his leadership experience as a corporate executive with a leading global financial firm, and over 10 years of riveting adventure stories and lessons learned from his extreme international mountaineering expeditions, rock and ice climbs, Mike helps us understand ourselves, how we affect the world and people around us, and how we can lead positive change no matter the odds.
Whether it’s climbing frozen waterfalls, hiking with family, helping local charities, or simply enjoying the many journeys life has to offer, Mike applies a “seize-the-day” mentality to all he commits to. He believes that curiosity, personal growth and learning for life are part of that journey, as such he is an MBA graduate from the Queen’s School of Business, holds a Bachelor of Commerce with distinction, and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute.
